How do we train up followers of Jesus to go the distance – those entrusted to our care? As I have contemplated this, I’ve come to this conclusion.
I am convinced “Discipleship” is not a class you take or just something you study. It is real life lessons learned while charging the stronghold of the Evil One with arrows flying overhead, nursing the wounded, and watching your brother’s back. It is only truly learned on the field of battle and not in the ivory tower. To expect theoretic knowledge of the subject to sustain you in a fire fight is folly. Only in the fire of adversity, loss, and risk does the refining occur. God help us to stop praying for safety and more for courage to live and accomplish the mission with the passion for the lost, the wounded, and the sick. My King, I need your help…
