Here I sit
Between the pages
Unopened, unseen
In a library of other stories
Dusty, Forgotten
Only alive when I'm being read
Discussed
Consumed
Am I a novel?
Vast, Encompassing
Worth the time
Recommended to others
Self perception is my weakness
I only know the turning of the next page
Maybe a short story
Complete, pithy
Leaving the reader hungry for more
Extrapolating the future
Story lines that could have been
Should have been
But the Author said "No"
A poem of substance
Like an Epic
Long on words. Powerful in imagery
Worthy of book clubs
Deserving of recognition
Or a limerick to mock
To amuse
Please, no
Or a sonnet
Beautiful to the ear
Touching the heart
But sad
Why are you sad?
But I don't know
I don't know who I am
Unless I am read
Seen
Heard
Worth repeating
Quoted
Is the desire to be read vanity?
No. You were written to be read
To be read is to be acknowledged
Readers don't see the editing
Arguments over plot
Expendable characters
Turns no one saw coming
The one who reads me must know the One who writes
Know the One who writes me
