“Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” Job 1:8
Cold hard truth. Life’s tough and God hasn’t promised to spare you from it’s trial and tribulations. Anybody who says otherwise is selling something. Add to that the fact that God likes to bet on you. That scares me to death. What a sobering thought! My question to you. Can God – will God put your name in the blank? Better yet, will you? Will you risk being put through the fire for the glory of the Almighty? Will you risk it all for the sake of His kingdom? I don’t mean attempt great feats for God. You know – building a hospital, rehabilitating an entire community, pastor a church, giving away everything you own, move to a foreign country where you don’t know the language to live among a people who might care less you are there. Those are all wonderful things. But will you do the less noticed things? You know what they are:
Love and serve your wife, shepherd your kids, honor your parents, serve your neighbors even when it is inconvenient, accept troubles as from His hand, glory in your weakness that He might be shown strong, tell the truth, and all the while remain faithful to the One who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Will you allow for the “interruptions” to your schedule that are actually His agenda for you that day? Will you come to understand that your life isn’t for you? Are you willing? Am I?
What does God say about you to Satan I wonder…
“Have you considered my servant Allan?”
Insert your own name there. It gives me chills to think about it. Now you do it. Are you ready? I’m no Job by any stretch of the imagination, but God lays out for us all opportunities every day. I want to encourage you – don’t be afraid to ask God to bet on you. He is willing to take the risk – if you will.
This is wonderful. I will read this every day this week. I look forward to more posts from you, my friend.
